Internationally celebrated for her searingly honest autobiographical works, Tracey Emin often addresses the subjects of coupling, motherhood, intimacy and loneliness. The Wedding is a small scale sculpture that takes the roughly moulded form of a figure partly hidden by the blanket that enfolds her.

In recent years, Emin’s practice has focused on painting and monumental bronze sculptures, and this is a rare example of the artist working on a very intimate scale. In 2022 a permanent installation of Emin’s The Mother, was unveiled at Inger Munch’s Pier in Oslo.
