This spring, Mona Hatoum’s Hot Spot (2013) will be on view in Turner Contemporary’s Sunley Gallery. The steel globe, roughly the size of a human’s height and arm span, tilts at the same angle as the Earth, with its continents traced in red neon. The work’s cage-like structure and ominous glow render the world as a universal danger zone, reflecting on global conflicts, border tensions and the climate emergency.
