It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Georg Baselitz (1938–2026).

Georg Baselitz was one of the most influential artists of our time, who redefined the tenets of Expressionism. He was an artist steeped in the tradition of grand European painting, yet his radical approach to image-making never ceased to challenge the avant-garde.

His paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints are held in the collections of many of the world’s leading museums. His legacy will live on.

His death is an immense loss to the world of art and we extend our deepest condolences to his beloved family and dedicated studio team.
