A retrospective of drawings by Georg Baselitz is on display at the Albertina Museum in Vienna, following the artist’s significant donation of 100 drawings to that institution and the Morgan Library & Museum in New York.

Spanning the early 1960s to the present day, the exhibition traces key phases in Baselitz’s career, providing fascinating insights into his unique, highly abstract interpretations of landscape and figurative drawing traditions. Incorporating a range of mediums including India ink, watercolour, pencil and pastel, these works on paper not only serve as references for Baselitz’s larger paintings but also function as standalone artistic endeavours that showcase his continual experimentation with new techniques and styles.
