Taken in the interior of a building located in the Brazilian capital of Brasília, designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer in the mid-20th century, this edition by Cerith Wyn Evans is characteristic of his precise aesthetic, which frequently reconfigures modernist images into complex works that visualise coherence coming apart.

Often taking inspiration from site-specific architecture, Evans’s work is striking for its refined and coded relations with space, light and language. While his installations use unexpected means – luminous columns, philosophical writings, projection, reflections and neon – to create a polymorphous, intertextual space, this edition documents the lens through which he sees his surroundings; one in which narratives of the past emerge through windows of the present.
