The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced that the Genesis Façade Commission in 2026 will feature the work of Liu Wei.

Part of The Met's modern and contemporary programming, the Genesis Facade Commission invites artists to create new works of art, establishing a dialogue between the artist’s practice, The Met collection, the physical Museum and The Met’s audiences.

Liu Wei’s commission will be the sixth in the Genesis Façade Commission series. Previous installations have featured the work of Jeffrey Gibson (2025), Lee Bull (2024), Nairy Baghramian (2023), Hew Locke (2022), Carol Bove (2021) and Wangechi Mutu (2019).
