Burberry is celebrating a special collaboration with renowned British American artist Sarah Morris, who has designed a unique façade for its store in the Miami Design District. The launch coincides with this year’s Art Basel Miami Beach 2025.

Recognised for her abstract geometric paintings and cinematic films, Morris’s works explore urban environments, architecture and power structures. Based in New York, her work translates cityscapes into vibrant visual systems, using both reality and abstraction. Morris has exhibited internationally, with works held in major collections in the Museum of Modern Art (New York City), Centre Pompidou (Paris) and Tate Modern (London), amongst others.

For the collaboration, the artist created a version of her work, Department of Water and Power [Los Angeles]. The original painting was made by Morris in 2004 and titled after the infamous municipal building.

Spanning 31 x 27ft, Department of Water and Power will be displayed across the façade of Burberry in the upscale neighbourhood renowned for its modern architecture, art galleries and luxury stores. Morris’s piece features an eye-catching array of colours superimposed over the Burberry Check – a playful and humorous subversion of the British house’s iconic pattern.
