Comprising a series of long-form exchanges, this publication explores the evolution of Darren Almond’s multimedia practice through conversation with art writer Martin Herbert, who has known the artist since the very start of his career. Together, each voice, and the form of conversation itself, reveals sensitive insights into the many trajectories of Almond’s work.

Structured to mirror the broad chronology of the artist’s practice, each chaptered dialogue moves forwards and backwards in time as Almond recounts early inspirations, meditates on process and narrates biographical and anecdotal details. With intimate candour and nuanced reflection, this publication offers a rare window into the personal experiences which inform Almond’s inventive and heterogenous work.
