White Cube at West Bund Art & Design 2026

White Cube is pleased to participate in the 2026 edition of West Bund Art & Design during Shanghai Art Week, featuring works by artists including Tunji Adeniyi-Jones, Georg Baselitz, Damien Hirst, Shigeo Otake and Tesfaye Urgessa.

Highlights include:

The Cat Stealer (2026), a painting by Shigeo Otake featuring one of the artist’s characteristic allegorical scenes. It follows the gallery’s recent representation announcement and his exhibition at White Cube Hong Kong in July 2026.

Tesfaye Urgessa’s Frozen soil (2025), following his solo exhibition at White Cube Hong Kong in September 2026, and the representation announcement by the gallery earlier in the year. Built through regions of deep pigment, the work is an example of how the human figure provides the principal means through which the artist tests the expressive limits of painting.

Georg Baselitz’s Das zweite mal Großgold (Grand Gold for the Second Time) (2025). Depicting an inverted figure on a gold background, the painting is part of one of the last bodies of work the artist made before his passing in April 2026. It follows Baselitz’s solo show at White Cube Bermondsey in summer 2026 and coincides with his retrospective at Sehwa Foundation Museum in Seoul, on view until 27 December 2026.

Tunji Adeniyi-Jones’s painting Ivory Duet (2026) depicts a pair of his signature figures against a dense field of abstracted botanical forms. The work’s destabilised orientation collapses any fixed horizon, allowing figure and flora to move together through pictorial space in a state of perpetual, spiralling flux.

Blood Life (2019), a colourful painting by Damien Hirst, part of the artist’s series of works with butterflies suspended in thick layers of gloss paint. Hirst’s major exhibition at Museum of Art Pudong (MAP), Shanghai, China, opens in December 2026.
