The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced that Danh Vo will create the 2027 Genesis Facade Commission.

Part of The Met’s modern and contemporary programme, the commission invites artists to create new works for the four niches of the Museum’s Beaux-Arts Fifth Avenue façade. Each installation brings the artist’s practice into dialogue with The Met’s collection, architecture and audiences.

Danh Vo’s commission will be the eighth in the series. Previous installations have featured Liu Wei (2026), Jeffrey Gibson (2025), Lee Bul (2024), Nairy Baghramian (2023), Hew Locke (2022), Carol Bove (2021) and Wangechi Mutu (2019).

The commission will be on view from 16 September 2027 to 6 June 2028.
