The Consortium Museum presents a two-part exhibition of works by Shigeo Otake across Venice and Dijon, marking the artist’s first major European institutional presentation. The first part of the exhibition took place in Venice earlier this year, followed by the second, on view at the Consortium Museum as part of ‘L’Almanach 26’.

L’Almanach (Almanach) is an international exhibition held at the Consortium every two to three years, with this year’s iteration exhibiting the work of 14 artists.

Otake’s exhibition brings together eleven paintings and over 100 preparatory drawings spanning his career. The works on view speak to the influence of European painting and fungal life on his work, as well as the literary, folkloric, religious and mycological references the artist draws on.
