Beatriz Milhazes, ‘Pink Sunshine’ Safety Curtain at Vienna State Opera, 2021

A new work by Beatriz Milhazes has been unveiled as part of the 24th edition of the 'Safety Curtain Project', which since 1988 has transformed the safety curtain of the Vienna State Opera into an exhibition space for contemporary art. Curated by Daniel Birnbaum, Bice Curiger and Hans Ulrich Obrist, the work, titled ‘Pink Sunshine’ (2021) is the first by a Latin American woman for the project. For the opening program, the opera's ballet director Martin Schläpfer has created choreography inspired by the work, which is performed by the Brazilian dancer Sinthia Liz, member of the Viennese State Ballet.

The work can be seen before and after performances and during the intermissions until the end of June 2022.
