Beatriz Milhazes has unveiled Pietrolina (2026), a new site-specific painting at MASP – Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand. Conceived for the museum’s new underground passage, the work accompanies visitors as they move between the Lina Bo Bardi and Pietro Maria Bardi buildings. The passage is the first of its scale at a museum in Latin America.

Extending across 98 metres, Pietrolina comprises a 60-metre-long painting running parallel to reflective elements positioned along a 38-metre wall. The composition evokes the rhythms and succession of a carnival procession, while its title pays tribute to Lina Bo Bardi and Pietro Maria Bardi, the couple who founded MASP and after whom the museum’s two buildings are named.
