A new three-storey mural of Richard Hunt, created by Chicago-based artist Chris Devins, has been unveiled in the city’s Hyde Park neighbourhood.

The mural can be viewed at 1515–19 E. 54th St., near several of Hunt’s sculptures and the Obama Presidential Center, where one of the artist’s final works, Book Bird, is installed.

The idea for the mural was proposed by author and public historian Michelle Duster, the great-granddaughter of Ida B. Wells. Duster worked with Hunt for more than a decade as he created The Light of Truth: Ida B. Wells National Monument in Bronzeville.
