Miroslaw Balka presents yromem, a new commission by the Lake District Holocaust Project for the final stage of their two year programme ‘Holocaust and Memory Reframed.’

The programme has looked at works that explore ‘the representation of the un-representational’ in post-Holocaust arts and culture. Balka’s works follow from this, incorporating powerful reflections on ritual, hidden memories and the history of Nazi occupation in his native Poland. A resident of Warsaw, his works deal with the personal experiences of his Catholic upbringing alongside the collective experience of Poland’s fractured history.
