Julie Mehretu collaborates with Tyshawn Sorey for Rothko Chapel’s 50th Anniversary

Julie Mehretu’s works will feature in musician and composer Tyshawn Sorey's latest composition, ‘Monochromatic Light (Afterlife)’ at Park Avenue Armory in New York.

Commissioned by Park Avenue Armory, DaCamera, and Rothko Chapel, the work commemorates the chapel's 50th anniversary, and interprets the score that originally inaugurated the space in 1971, by pioneering composer Morton Feldman. Staged by acclaimed director Peter Sellars, this cross-disciplinary performance also encompasses choreography by Reggie (Rogg Roc) Gray, bringing new perspectives on time, space and movement into dialogue.
