White Cube is pleased to announce the participation of the Nairobi Contemporary Art Institute (NCAI), blaxTARLINES KUMASI, and Denniston Hill in the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, ‘In Minor Keys’, taking place from 9 May to 22 November 2026.
Curated by Koyo Kouoh, ‘In Minor Keys’ brings together individual artists, collectives, and artist‑led organisations from across diverse geographies.
Sara Flores has been selected to represent Peru at the Biennale, and running concurrently in Venice, Michael Armitage’s solo exhibition ‘The Promise of Change’ will be on view at Palazzo Grassi, Pinault Collection.

Nairobi Contemporary Art Institute (NCAI) (established by Michael Armitage)
The Nairobi Contemporary Art Institute (NCAI), founded by Michael Armitage in 2020, is a non-profit arts institute dedicated to the growth and preservation of art in East Africa through exhibitions, an extensive education programme, research and public programmes. NCAI is currently presenting the group exhibition Michael Armitage, Maria Lassnig, Chelenge Van Rampelberg (19 February – 5 April 2026), touring from Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria.
blaxTARLINES KUMASI (founded by artists including Ibrahim Mahama)
blaxTARLINES KUMASI is an art collective based within the Department of Painting and Sculpture at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana. Formally established in 2015, the group includes Ibrahim Mahama among its members and operates as a collaborative platform for artists, curators, and writers from the region.
Denniston Hill (co‑founded by Julie Mehretu)
Denniston Hill is an artist‑run, interdisciplinary residency programme in the Southern Catskills of New York, co‑founded by artists Julie Mehretu and Paul Pfeiffer, and architect Lawrence Chua. Based on a former farm, the residency fosters a vibrant community of artists, writers, and thinkers.
Sara Flores to represent Peru
Sara Flores will represent Peru at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, with a project titled ‘Sara Flores: De otros mundos’ (From other worlds), curated by Issela Ccoyllo and Matteo Norzi. The project is organised by Patronato Cultural del Perú and ICPNA Cultural.
