Friedrich Kunath at Modern Art Oxford

Posted:

21 September – 17 November 2013

Modern Art Oxford will hold the first solo exhibition in a UK public gallery by Friedrich Kunath. Four new paintings and a selection of new sculptures will be shown alongside recent works, including Kunath's film You Go Your Way and I’ll Go Crazy (2012).

With the exhibition title referencing Raymond Moody, an American psychologist and author of Life after Life (1975) as well as British 1960s rock band 'The Moody Blues', Kunath draws inspiration from the playful discourse between melancholy and joy, something he often refers to as 'sad optimism'.

Friedrich Kunath will be in conversation with British writer Michael Bracewell on Saturday 21 September 2013, 1pm at Modern Art Oxford.
