This October, Wrightwood 659 presents a solo exhibition of paintings by Ellen Altfest. Titled ‘Ellen Altfest: Forever’, the presentation features a selection of 15 oil paintings and spans 20 years of work. The artist has said, ‘‘Forever’ is trying to create something that is of its time, but also transcends time.’

‘Ellen Altfest: Forever’ is organised in partnership with the Frist Art Museum, Nashville, Tennessee, where it premiered earlier this year, and is curated by Mark Scala, Chief Curator at the Frist Art Museum.

Artist Talk: Ellen Altfest and Rob Colvin

19 November 2025, 6pm

Altfest will be joined by her husband, Rob Colvin, for a screening of Colvin’s short film Ellen in Rising Fawn (First Cut), followed by a conversation discussing the role of observation and representation in Altfest’s creative process.
