Vienna

An exhibition of drawings by Damien Hirst opens at Albertina Modern this May. Offering insight into Hirst’s creative processes, ‘Drawings’ features works on paper produced from the 1980s onwards. Many of the drawings on view were created in preparation for some of the artist’s most pioneering works, and a selection will be shown alongside related paintings and sculptures.

A focus of the exhibition is Hirst’s conceptual approach to drawing – used at times as an initial study, at others as a standalone work, and occasionally as a retrospective exploration of ideas, produced after an artwork’s completion.
