On the opening day of Julie Mehretu’s exhibition ‘They departed into their own country another way (a 9x9x9 hauntology)' at White Cube Bermondsey, the artist will be joined in conversation by Adrienne Edwards. From the gallery, the two will discuss Mehretu’s exhibition, which debuts three new series of paintings.

Adrienne Edwards is Engell Speyer Family Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Edwards’ experience as a curator and director comprises nearly 50 interdisciplinary performance commissions, as well as numerous curatorial projects at museums such as ICA Boston, Walker Art Center and the Whitney Museum of American Art. As a writer, Edwards has authored and contributed to several publications, including a 2019 monograph on Julie Mehretu’s work, which earned recognition as one of The New York Times' Best Art Books of the year.

The talk will be followed by a late-night gallery opening of Mehretu’s exhibition until 9 pm.
