Christian Marclay at Photo Elysée

In 2021, Photo Elysée invited Christian Marclay to delve into its collections and explore the thousands of self-portrait photographs taken by the public with the museum’s Photomaton. Together with photography students from Lausanne’s ECAL (University of Art and Design), Marclay pored over, scanned and transformed the conserved prints.

The project has led to Photo Elysée’s exhibition, titled ‘Photomaton’, showcasing images that Marclay and ECAL students experimented with and appropriated to weave new stories.
