Anselm Kiefer wins the German National Prize

Anselm Kiefer has been awarded the German National Prize by the German National Foundation in Hamburg. The prestigious prize, worth €30,000, has been presented to the artist for his ambitious body of work made throughout his career. Additionally, the prize has been awarded in recognition of Kiefer’s role in being part of the first generation "to deal directly with the question of identity and nation after war and the Holocaust."
