Andreas Gursky’s first major exhibition in Italy opens at Fondazione MAST, Bologna. Curated by Gursky and Urs Stahle, ‘Visual Spaces of Today’ showcases over 40 exemplary photographic images by the artist, spanning from his early career through to the present day.

Commemorating the 10-year anniversary of Fondazione MAST, the selected images take inspiration from its acronym, which stands for Manifattura di Arti, Sperimentazione, Tecnologia (Arts, Experimentation and Technology). Demonstrating the fusion of these domains, the images unveil powerful visual spaces that offer new perspectives on modern tourism, globalisation and technological advancement. With a richly detailed intensity, the large-scale images capture multinational headquarters, production sites, food industries, fashion runways and transportation hubs, rendering aspects of contemporary civilisation with heightened acuity.
