Iwaki City Art Museum presents an exhibition surveying Yoko Matsumoto’s career, titled ‘The Day I Saw the Evening Star’. The exhibition features around 45 works from the late 1950s to the present day, tracing Matsumoto’s unique expressive visual language that has been informed by lineages of Japanese art and the tenets of Western abstraction.

During the exhibition, Iwaki City Art Museum will host a programme of events:

The exhibition was previously on view at Fuchu Museum, Tokyo, Japan (23 May ‒ 12 July 2026) and will travel to The Museum of Modern Art, Hayama, Kanagawa, Japan (28 November 2026 ‒ 28 February 2027).
