White Cube at Frieze London and Frieze Sculpture 2025

Posted:

White Cube returns to Frieze London with a three-artist presentation featuring sculptures by Marguerite Humeau (b. 1986, Chloet, France) and paintings by Howardena Pindell (b. 1943, Philadelphia, US) and Sara Flores (b. 1950, Tambomayo, Peru). Meanwhile, in Regent’s Park’s historic English gardens, the gallery presents a trio of life-sized bronze 'Nymphs’ by David Altmejd (b. 1974, Montreal, Canada) as part of the 2025 edition of Frieze Sculpture.

Frieze London 2025

At Frieze London (15 – 19 October 2025, booth D21), White Cube explores ideas of the natural world, whether informed by the history of science, tethered to personal memory or rooted in indigenous knowledge systems. Through the practices of three major intercontinental artists, the presentation speaks to mankind’s entanglement with nature but equally reveals its enigmatic role in artistic visions as wide-ranging as they are distinct.

London-based Marguerite Humeau combines speculative science with artisanal forms to explore life forces, consciousness and the great unknown. Through meticulous research and interdisciplinary collaborations, her artistic endeavours are driven by the mysteries of human existence. The presentation at Frieze London coincides with a major touring museum show taking place at ARKEN, Copenhagen (until 19 October 2025) and travelling to Helsinki Art Museum, Finland, later this year.

In her paintings, US artist Howardena Pindell layers thousands of small, coloured circles using her ‘spray dot’ technique, in part a reference to the vastness of the universe. Spanning over five decades, her profoundly personal and politically charged practice addresses not only issues of racism and gender-inequality but also natural physics and microbiology. The artist will open a major solo exhibition at White Cube Bermondsey in November 2025.

Sara Flores is one of the foremost contemporary artists emerging from the Amazonian basin. Her intricate, circuitous paintings engage the practice of Kené – an artform native to the Shipibo-Conibo People – and speak of the complexity of the ecosystem as well as Indigenous worldviews that connect art, nature and life. Coinciding with her recent solo exhibition at White Cube Bermondsey (9 July – 7 September 2025), the artist opened her inaugural institutional solo show at Lima Art Museum (MALI) in Peru this year, a first for an Indigenous artist. Flores will represent Peru at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia in 2026.

Frieze Sculpture 2025

At Frieze Sculpture (17 September – 2 November 2025), David Altmejd presents a triptych of bronze ‘Nymphs’.

Each life-sized sculpture is suspended in mid-motion, with arms raised and billowing dresses articulating the fluid movement of the dance. Sculpted in clay before being cast in bronze, the surface retains the marks of Altmejd’s hands where the material has been manipulated, imbuing the figures with a sense of liveness.

London Exhibitions: White Cube Bermondsey and Mason’s Yard

Coinciding with the fair, White Cube Bermondsey presents ‘Cai Guo-Qiang: Gunpowder and Abstraction 2015–2025' (26 September – 9 November 2025), marking the artist’s first exhibition in London in over 20 years.

At White Cube Mason’s Yard, Andreas Gursky presents new photographs devoted to his interest in music and ongoing investigation into contemporary culture (11 October – 8 November 2025).
