Theaster Gates is being honoured as a MOCA Legend at The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)’s annual Gala in Los Angeles. Taking place at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, this year's Gala inaugurates the new MOCA Legends format, which honours three luminaries from art, culture and philanthropy, who have been fundamental to the museum’s evolution.

Gates will be honoured alongside Frank Gehry and Wendy Schmidt, with each of the MOCA Legend's impact having helped cement the museum as a leading force in presenting and preserving contemporary art.

The 2025 MOCA Gala is presented in partnership with BVLGARI.
