Theaster Gates is announced as artist in residence for 2018/2019 at the Getty Research Institute. Gates is joining visiting scholars to conduct research for a project related to the theme ‘Monumentality’, which refers to the way that both monuments and the monumental address fundamental questions of art and architectural history.
