Theaster Gates’s exhibition ‘The Black Image Corporation’ will be on show at Fondazione Prada from 20 September 2018 until 14 January 2019. Similarly to ‘Black Madonna’, which is open at the Sprengel Museum Hannover until 2 September 2018, this project will explore legacy of Johnson Publishing Company archives, and how these images have contributed to shaping the aesthetic and cultural language of contemporary African American identity.
