Michael Armitage at Kunsthaus Bregenz

Kunsthaus Bregenz hosts an exhibition of work by Michael Armitage, bringing together paintings from 2015 to the present day. Titled 'Pathos and the Twilight of the Idle', the exhibition takes its name from Armitage's 2019 painting of the same name, now in the collection of LACMA.

The exhibition examines Armitage's practice to date, where, in the last 10 years, he has gained recognition as one of the most syncretic, technically considered artists of his generation; for his large-format paintings on Lubugo cloth, which weave narratives drawn from literature, film, politics, history and myth.
