Josiah McElheny’s ‘Two Walking Mirrors’

Posted:

6 – 9pm EST

8 September 2022

National Gallery of Art’s after hours programme of music, live performances and self-guided tours will feature a work by Josiah McElheny. Incorporating two glass mirror and cedar sculptures currently on display in the museum’s group exhibition ‘The Double: Identity and Difference in Art since 1990’ – Walking Mirror I and Walking Mirror II (both 2012) – the artist’s performance Two Walking Mirrors epitomizes McElheny’s interest in how ‘the act of looking at a reflective object could be connected to the mental act of reflecting on an idea’. Further activations will take place throughout the duration of the exhibition.

Registration is required and opens one week in advance at noon. Visit nga.gov to find out more.
