White Cube Seoul is pleased to present Yoko Matsumoto’s first solo exhibition in Seoul, featuring paintings and works on paper from the mid-1980s to the present day.

Committed to the principle of ‘painting with colour and form alone’, the Japanese artist Yoko Matsumoto (b.1936, Tokyo) creates immersive compositions in a reduced palette that articulate the primacy of painterly expression. Produced during periods of deep concentration, her abstract, labour-intensive canvases harness the agency of colour as both a conveyor and collaborator.
