In this film, Damián Ortega discusses the themes and ideas behind his exhibition at White Cube Mason's Yard. Ortega examines his use of salt as a material with formally transformative properties as well as a metaphor for cocaine and with it, the drug wars that dominate contemporary Mexican politics. He discusses how his work often begins with a story or anecdote and sheds light on how this body of work developed after the discovery of a photograph depicting a cocaine-carrying submarine.
