Opening concurrently with Tracey Emin’s major exhibition at Tate Modern, London (until 16 August 2026), White Cube presents the artist’s installation Knowing My Enemy (2002) at Unlimited.

Centred on a hut perched at the end of a pier, its interior adorned with hand-stitched patchwork curtains, Knowing My Enemy (2002) incorporates personal documents belonging to Tracey Emin’s father.

Here, the hut becomes a symbol of memory, loss and inheritance, while its fragile, unstable structure echoes the complexities of their relationship. It precedes a solo presentation at White Cube Paris (20 October – 18 December 2026), opening concurrently with Art Basel Paris.

Tracey Emin

Tracey Emin (b.1963) looks to her life for her primary material. With soul-searching candour, she probes the construct of the self but also the very impulse to create. Unfiltered, irreverent, raw, she draws on the fundamental themes of love, desire, loss and grief in works that are disarmingly and unashamedly emotional. ‘The most beautiful thing is honesty, even if it’s really painful to look at’, she has remarked.
