Tracey Emin at Jupiter Artland, Edinburgh

A solo exhibition of new works by Tracey Emin will occupy the house and grounds of Jupiter Artland, bringing together painting, sculpture and works on paper. Titled I Lay Here For You, it centres around a 2018 bronze of the same name, which measures six metres and will be unveiled in an old-growth beech grove that the artist personally chose as the setting for the sculpture. In this work, a female figure is portrayed with her head curled down in a vulnerable, eroticised pose, elongating her delicately modelled limbs and clenching her hands between her legs. Upending the nude tradition and its associations with a voyeuristic male gaze, Emin unravels the nuanced constructs of 'woman' and 'self' through probing self-exploration.
