‘The Memory of Love’, a new exhibition by Ibrahim Mahama, combining architecture, sculpture and a musical archive, opens at Frac des Pays de la Loire in Nantes, France. Mahama continues his investigation around the history of his country and the repercussions – cultural and economic – of the post-independence period. By bringing together window frames from disused colonial buildings covered with Dutch wax cloth fabric and jute sacks among other objects, the artist explores the countereffects and layered histories of items of trade.
