Ibraaz opens this October with an inaugural exhibition by Ibrahim Mahama. The exhibition will present Parliament of Ghosts, a site-specific adaptation of an ongoing, long-term research project initiated in 2016 and previously shown at The Whitworth as part of the 2019 Manchester International Festival. Featuring discarded objects from Mahama's home country of Ghana, such as scrapped furniture and materials, Parliament of Ghosts powerfully evokes the histories and memories of a nation asserting its independence.

Ibraaz was founded by Lina Lazaar, Vice President of the Kamel Lazaar Foundation, as a space to cast light on creativity and expression from the Global South. Lazaar has said, ‘Ibraaz aspires to be a brave space: a place where urgent questions can be asked, where listening and risk-taking forge new solidarities, and where culture becomes a way of reclaiming our shared humanity.’
