In this film, Tim Marlow, White Cube's Director of Exhibitions, discusses themes and processes with Fred Tomaselli in his Brooklyn studio. Tomaselli describes his seductive and destabilizing paintings as “psychoactive sites” that are suspended in a state of potentiality. Touching on the sublime, beauty (today's “final taboo”) and psychedelic drugs, this interview sheds light on the wide range of influences – from 17th century Tibetan Tanka paintings to Minimalism and Pop – that feed into his extraordinarily sublime and complex paintings.
