An exhibition of new paintings by Alia Ahmad (b.1996, Riyadh) will open at Mason’s Yard in February 2025. White Cube announced global representation of the artist in September 2024.

Ahmad’s vibrant, expressionistic paintings draw inspiration from memories and observations of her native Riyadh; informed by local textiles, poetry, calligraphy, digital graphics and the rich diversity of the surrounding industrialised desert landscape and plant life. Aligning her practice with traditional Bedouin perceptions of time – eschewing the four-season meteorological model in favour of localised observations of weather, vegetation and pasture – the artist’s work articulates a possible spectrum of environmental and embodied affect.
