Anselm Kiefer has been selected as the artist for the 26th ‘Safety Curtain’ exhibition by a jury consisting of Daniel Birnbaum, Bice Curiger and Hans Ulrich Obrist.

Conceived by museum in progress in collaboration with the Vienna State Opera and the Bundestheater-Holding, ‘Safety Curtain’ is an exhibition series which transforms the safety curtain of a stage into a temporary exhibition space. This ongoing project, which began in 1998, has previously featured artists such as Cerith Wyn Evans, David Hockney and Beatriz Milhazes.

At the opening of Kiefer’s ‘Safety Curtain’ on 8 November 2023, curator and critic Hans Ulrich Obrist will speak about the artist’s work.
