Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera presents ‘The Secret Life of Plants. Anselm Kiefer in the Grothe Collection’, the first monographic exhibition dedicated to Anselm Kiefer in Barcelona.

Bringing together around 80 works, the exhibition draws largely from the private collection of Hans Grothe, one of the most significant private collections dedicated to the artist, alongside works from other private collections.

The presentation traces themes that have shaped Kiefer’s practice throughout his career, including memory, history, nature, mythology and literature. Its title is taken from the artist’s 2001–2002 painting The Secret Life of Plants, for Robert Fludd.
