Ibrahim Mahama at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2025

Ibrahim Mahama presents Parliament of Ghosts at the 6th edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, titled ‘For the Time Being’. Transforming a hall in the Anand Warehouse in Kochi into a space of critical reflection on power and memory, Parliament of Ghosts is a site-specific installation conceived specifically for this location.

The installation is composed of second-hand jute sacks and seating made and adapted by local carpenters. Central to Parliament of Ghosts is the process of collective labour and collaboration. Students, artisans and workers from the local community were directly involved in the production of the work, reflecting Mahama’s emphasis on responsibility, situated practice and the ethics of making.
