Georg Baselitz at Museum der Moderne Salzburg

On the occasion of Georg Baselitz’s 88th birthday, Museum der Moderne Salzburg will present two exhibitions dedicated to the artist. Spanning the museum’s two venues, the presentations bring together works from early in Baselitz’s career through to his more recent monumental paintings.

The presentation on view at the Rupertinum, titled ‘Baselitz Manifestos’, focuses on Baselitz’s drawings and manifestoes from the 1960s, with a large scope of rarely seen works. At. At Mönchsberg, ‘Baselitz Now’ presents large-scale paintings created over the last ten years and recent sculpture. These works reflect on themes of ageing and mortality and include portraits of the artist and his wife, Elke.
