This October, the Saint Louis Art Museum will present Anselm Kiefer’s first American retrospective in 20 years. Titled ‘Becoming the Sea’, the exhibition will feature works that explore the river as a metaphor for the flux of life and the passage of time.

The presentation brings together a large scale site-specific installation inspired by the Mississippi and Rhine Rivers, alongside new landscapes and iconic works from Kiefer’s 60-year career.
