White Cube Mason’s Yard opened in 2006 near the original Duke Street space. The building, constructed on the site of an electricity sub-station, was designed by architects MRJ Rundell & Associates. It is the first free-standing structure to have been built in the historic St James’s area for more than 30 years and consists of a ground floor gallery on street level and a double-height, naturally-lit basement gallery. An exhibition by Mexico-based artist Gabriel Orozco inaugurated the space.

Coinciding with Frieze London 2026, White Cube will open a solo exhibition of work by Firenze Lai (b. 1984, Hong Kong). Debuting new paintings made in her London studio over the past year, this presentation marks the artist’s first exhibition in the UK and inaugural show with the gallery since she joined in July 2025.

The presentation follows the artist’s recent touring exhibition, ‘A Song of Ascents’, which opened at The Hepworth Wakefield, UK, in 2024, and her major outdoor commission for St Mary-le-Strand Church, London, last year.
