An exhibition of sculptures by David Altmejd opens at Galerie de l’UQAM this November. Titled ‘Agora’, the presentation is curated by Louise Déry and features over 20 of Altmejd’s signature head and busts sculptures.

The works on view reflect Altmejd’s unique and heady mix of science and magic, science fiction and gothic romanticism: a post-apocalyptic vision with a hallucinatory quality. The sculpted heads have been his focus in recent years and can also be seen as proxies for the artist − such is the case with the work Hare (2022), which is featured in the exhibition.
