Mental Escapology is a major exhibition by Damien Hirst, produced by Oscar Humphries and presented in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
Installed across five locations in the town, both indoor and outdoor, it features painting and sculpture drawn from across the artist's wide-ranging oeuvre. 'Spot Paintings', 'Butterfly Colour Paintings' and 'Mental Escapology' works are featured at the Forum Paracelsus and the Protestant Church while two large-scale sculptures are situated outside.
Hirst's monumental sculpture The Monk is installed in the very centre of St. Moritz's frozen lake, the first time an artwork has ever been presented in this sublime location, while Two Figures with a Drum is sited on the lake's North-East side. Both sculptures featured in Hirst's 2017 landmark exhibition Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable at Punta della Dogana and Palazzo Grassi, Venice.
Creating a dialogue between the art and landscape, the contemporary and the historic, the exhibition runs until March 2021.
