20 November 2021 – 23 February 2022
Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo
The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo will host ‘Christian Marclay Translating’, the artist’s first large-scale museum presentation in Japan, from 20 November 2021 to 23 February 2022. The exhibition spans the artist’s punk-inspired, early conceptual pieces, large-scale installations, works on paper and more recent works that reflect on present-day anxieties. The exhibition is formulated around the notion of translating, in reference to Marclay's singular exploration of the relationship between sound and vision. During the course of the exhibition, a public programme of events will feature performances of Marclay's graphic scores by Japanese musicians.
