Museum Voorlinden
A retrospective of work by Antony Gormley opens at Museum Voorlinden, Netherlands, bringing the artist’s recent large-scale installations into dialogue with his earlier lead and steel sculptures. Gormley is the first artist in the museum’s history to present work in Voorlinden’s galleries and 17th-century estate simultaneously, making his exhibition their most ambitious to date. Titled ‘GROUND’, the retrospective highlights the open-ended nature of sculpture, where works are less representations of isolated subjects than they are ‘grounds for physical and imaginative inhabitation’, as Gormley states.
