As part of the interventions program, MuHKA is pleased to present ‘Collectie XXII Fantasy’ curated by Koen van den Broek. Displaying works from both the MuHKA collection and various private Belgian art collections, Van den Broek continues to explore the formal possibilities of what has become a well-known signature motif – images and pictures of ‘grounds’, curbs, earth, floors, streets and other supporting surfaces. The choice of paintings include works by Mary Heilmann, Robert Mangold and Blinky Palermo as well as John Baldessari and Ed Ruscha to name a few, thus expressing Van den Broek’s allegiance to the great traditions of abstract painting and his affinity to the artistic sensibility of America’s west coast.
